A new song recorded from an FM-1 running OPN-1, with instruments from Sonic the Hedgehog.
Multi is in use: the patch you pick here becomes part 1's.
ALGORITHM
PLAY ITC3
Picking a patch here also selects it on the FM-1, as PRESETS does. Changes play as you make them; Save writes the patch to its slot and keeps it. Computer keys play too: Z to M and Q to U.
Multi
You can ignore this tab: by default the FM-1 is one synth, with part 1 playing the selected patch on MIDI channels 1 to 6 and 12 to 15 (All: 7 to 11 stay the PSG and drums). Turn on more parts to play several patches at once. Each part plays one patch from the library, and all six share the six FM voices. Parts on different channels let a sequencer play different patches. Parts on the same channel play together, so one can be a sound's attack, another its body, and a Release part its tail. One synth puts it back.
Drum kit
Load VGM songs in the Library to find a game's sampled drums. MIDI channel 10 plays them, C2 the first.
PSG shapes
The volume shapes the game gave its square waves and noise. Program change on channels 7 to 11 picks one.
Songs
Load VGM files in the Library. A song streams to the FM-1 while it plays, so keep this tab open.
Plug the FM-1 in with USB and open this page in Chrome or Edge. Allow MIDI when the browser asks.
In the Library, drop .opm patch files or VGM songs, tick the patches you want, pick a bank and slot, and press Send to FM-1.
Turn PRESETS on the FM-1 to step through them, and play. The Editor changes the selected patch.
To play several patches at once (layers, or different MIDI channels), see Multi. Until you use it, the FM-1 is one synth on MIDI channels 1 to 6 and 12 to 15.
Installing OPN-1 is done at your own risk. It comes with no warranty, and its authors accept no responsibility for damaged or unusable devices.
